How the MindWork Group Intensive Outpatient Program is organized

The MindWork Group IOP is organized into three phases, each offering different levels of care and support:

Phase 1: Intensive Evaluation/Treatment with optional Supportive Housing

How often you’ll visit the office: 4-5 days per week

Overview: This phase begins with an initial 2-week commitment to the program with daily attendance. We provide intensive evaluation, treatment and stabilization for people struggling with mental health and substance use disorders. Beyond the initial 2 week commitment, phase 1 consists of four to five days of intensive outpatient treatment per week, which includes individual and group psychotherapy, family therapy, occupational therapy, and other paths to healing, such as art and recreational therapies.

All services are provided within our nurturing community, with our doctors providing more than 10 hours a week of group therapy in addition to individual meetings with patients.

Supportive housing is available at the MindWork Group supported living home (Kairos House), at a boutique hotel immediately adjacent to the clinical offices, or via other housing options. Additional costs apply.

Your treatment team will work with you to determine the length of Phase 1 treatment and readiness for stepping down to Phase 2.

Important information: The initial 2-week commitment at the Phase 1 level of care is required with daily participation to enter treatment in the MindWork IOP. We require that you commit to abstinence from all mind- and mood-altering substances, including alcohol and cannabis. Your cooperation with this requirement will be confirmed through urine drug screens.

Cost and Payment: Associated cost includes treatment; supportive housing is separate. Upon review of all clinical materials, once admission is offered, you must remit a $5,000 non-refundable deposit to secure your admission date. Payment for the remainder of the initial 2 weeks is due on the first day of treatment. Ongoing care can be paid by the treatment day, week or month.

If you opted to have an outpatient consultation, the cost of the consultation will be applied to your intensive program stay if you admit within 30 days of the consultation.

Phase 2: Intensive Treatment with optional Supportive Housing

How often you’ll visit the office: 3-5 days per week

Overview: Phase 2 offers less intensive treatment, with the goal of supporting you in your return to life outside of the treatment program. While patients still receive a high level of care, this phase allows for more flexibility. Treatment focuses on the challenges that arise as you work to return to daily life.

In this phase, you will begin to transfer insights and skills you are gaining from your therapeutic work with your team to your world outside of treatment. The team will support you as you make your way to part-time work, volunteering,, or school. You may also attend to your relationships more closely which may have suffered during the acute phase of your illness. If needed, supportive housing is also available during this phase, so that you can continue residing in a supportive environment.

Transitioning to Phase 2 is an active process where you work with your team to determine if this is the right step. We expect you to talk with your team and be an active participant in enabling a successful transition to Phase 2. Vacations, leaves of absence, and schedule modifications may be requested during this phase as well.

Cost and payment: While we recommend making a month-long commitment during this phase, you may elect to pay weekly. Continued housing at Kairos House, nearby hotel or extended stay options are available at an additional cost.

Phase 3: Outpatient Psychological and Psychiatric Services with Supportive Housing Available

How often you’ll visit the office: Phase 3 patients attend groups more sporadically, ultimately completing the intensive program and transitioning to outpatient care. MindWork Group’s capacity to continue services beyond the completion of our intensive program offers you and your loved one’s valuable continuity as you transition back to regular life. Your unique needs and priorities at this stage will guide the structure of this phase and outpatient care ultimately.

Overview: Phase 3 represents a transition back to life in full swing. It focuses on maintaining hard-won momentum in recovery and typically includes traditional outpatient services, as well as implementation of other treatment approaches that you have found helpful along the way, into your day to day life.

Supportive housing remains available so that you can continue to access supportive living arrangements as needed while focusing on your ongoing recovery.

Cost: Fee for service - for more information, see our rate sheet.
